Forward mail to VertragCheck
Every VertragCheck account has its own mail address, for example max.mustermann.k7q2@post.vertragcheck.de. You find it in the app under Profile → Mail address for contracts. Mail sent to this address lands on the matching contract. If we can’t tell the contract for sure, it lands in the app’s Inbox, and you assign it with one tap.
The easiest way
Give the address to your providers as your e-mail address, for example in their customer portal. Invoices, price changes and confirmations then go straight to VertragCheck. If you still want to see them in your usual mailbox, turn on Copies in your own inbox in the app.
If you want your providers to keep your current address, set up a rule in your mailbox that forwards only your providers’ mail to VertragCheck. How that works in Gmail, GMX, web.de and Outlook is explained below.
Forward only your providers’ mail, not your whole mailbox. Everything sent to your VertragCheck address is stored in your account.
The confirmation mail
Gmail and GMX only forward once you have confirmed the new target address. To do that, they send a mail with a confirmation link to your VertragCheck address. It shows up in the app’s Inbox after about a minute. Open it and tap the link. Forwarding is active after that.
Gmail
This only works in a browser on a computer, not in the Gmail app.
- Click the gear at the top right, then See all settings.
- Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and click Add a forwarding address.
- Enter your VertragCheck address and click Next, Proceed and OK.
- Confirm Google’s mail in the VertragCheck app’s Inbox (see above).
- In the “Forwarding” section, leave Disable forwarding selected. Otherwise Gmail forwards your whole mailbox.
- Click Show search options in the search box at the top. Under From, enter your provider’s address, for example
rechnung@anbieter.de, or just the domain, for example@anbieter.de. Separate several providers withOR:@anbieter-a.de OR @anbieter-b.de. - Click Create filter, tick Forward it to and choose your VertragCheck address.
- Click Create filter again.
The filter applies to new mail. Forward older mail one by one (see below).
GMX
GMX is in German only, so the labels below are the German ones.
- Sign in at gmx.net, click the icon with your initials at the top and choose E-Mail-Einstellungen.
- Under Postfach organisieren, choose Filterregeln and click Filterregeln erstellen.
- As the condition, choose Absender enthält … (sender contains) and enter your provider’s address or domain, for example
@anbieter.de. For several providers, add more conditions and set that any one of them has to match. - As the action, choose Weiterleiten an (forward to) and enter your VertragCheck address.
- Save with Filterregel einrichten.
- GMX sends an activation link to your VertragCheck address. Open it in the app’s Inbox; forwarding only starts after that.
web.de
web.de can only forward the whole mailbox. Its filter rules have no forwarding action, so forwarding can’t be limited to certain senders. We don’t recommend it, because all your mail would then end up at VertragCheck.
Instead, give your VertragCheck address to the provider, or forward single mails by hand.
Outlook
These steps apply to Outlook.com, Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows.
- Click the gear at the top right and choose Mail → Rules.
- Click Add new rule and enter a name, for example “VertragCheck”.
- As the condition, choose From and enter your provider’s address.
- As the action, choose Redirect to and enter your VertragCheck address.
- Click Save.
Choose “Redirect to”, not “Forward to”. When mail is redirected, the provider stays the sender and VertragCheck finds the right contract. Forwarded mail comes from you and is more likely to land in the Inbox.
Outlook sends no confirmation mail. On work or school accounts, the IT department may have blocked automatic forwarding to outside addresses.
Forwarding single mails by hand
You can also forward any mail to your VertragCheck address the usual way. Because it then comes from you, VertragCheck only recognises the contract if the contract number is in the mail. Otherwise you find it in the Inbox and assign it there.
What happens next
- New mail shows up on the contract under Correspondence or in the Inbox, and you get a notification.
- For price changes, renewals and other contract changes, VertragCheck checks the mail and its attachments for new details. They appear on the contract for you to review; nothing is applied until you confirm it.
- “Verified sender” means the mail provably comes from the sender’s domain. If it is missing, check the mail before you act on it.
Stopping forwarding or changing the address
Delete the filter or rule in your mailbox. If you create a new VertragCheck address in the app, the old one keeps accepting mail for 30 days. Update your rules and your providers within that time.
How we handle the mail and how long we keep it is described in the privacy policy.
